EpicentarPress is a regional news portal published by Udruženje Epicentar Media from Čačak and listed in Serbia's Register of Public Media (IN000514). It covers Čačak, Gornji Milanovac, Ivanjica and Lučani, along with politics, society, sport, culture, the economy, crime, education and technology. BCILITY built the portal and its Android app.
Two scripts, one portal
Serbian readers use both Latin and Cyrillic, and a news site that picks one loses part of its audience. EpicentarPress has a Latin / Cyrillic switch in the header that changes the script of the site in one click.
What we built
- Local and topical sections, including a section per municipality and an archive of election coverage.
- A breaking-news ticker that can be paused, plus a "most read" list.
- Search, dark mode and an RSS feed.
- Article pages with view counts, photo credits, tags and share buttons for Facebook, X, Viber and WhatsApp.
- Moderated comments, published only after review.
- Video and photo galleries and an embedded YouTube channel.
- An Android app, published on Google Play.
Built to be found
A news portal lives on search traffic, so articles carry NewsArticle structured data and breadcrumb markup for search engines. The portal is built with Next.js and served through Cloudflare.
